Dr. Morris Brown: Dr. Morris Brown was born in 1948 in Anniston, Alabama, during a tumultuous American history marked by civil rights struggles and significant social change. As the fourth of eight children, his upbringing in a household that valued faith, hard work, and community service profoundly shaped his character and aspirations. His mother, a former sharecropper who became a nurse's aide, and his father, a laborer who also served as a Baptist preacher, instilled in him the virtues of diligence, compassion, and a solid commitment to justice. From an early age, Dr. Brown demonstrated an aptitude for academics and a clear sense of leadership. These traits were evident at Cobb Avenue High School, where he excelled academically and graduated third. His role as class president allowed him to develop early leadership skills, fostering a passion for advocacy and community involvement that would define much of his later work. Choosing to pursue higher education, Dr. Morris Brown Dayton attended Knoxville College, a historically black liberal arts college in Tennessee. He majored in Biology here, laying the groundwork for his medical career.
